Today, Self and Google announced the forthcoming launch of a first-of-its-kind stablecoin distribution engine made uniquely possible by Self's proof-of-human infrastructure. As autonomous agents expand their reach across the internet, Self's identity layer is emerging as the leading solution for proof-of-human verification, and this platform is the latest proof point. It will distribute USA₮, Tether's US Dollar-backed stablecoin, to users who verify their humanity and eligibility with Self's privacy-first tooling.
USA₮ is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., the first federally chartered digital asset bank in the United States, backed by reserves custodied by Cantor Fitzgerald and designed to meet the standards of the GENIUS Act. Deploying it through a privacy-preserving identity layer is a first for any US dollar stablecoin.
To enable this distribution engine, Google needed a secure, trustworthy identity verification solution and turned to Self. This is the latest step in an ongoing partnership that has also launched cutting-edge developer tooling to ensure resources are allocated only to humans and not drained by bots.
How it works
The faucet runs on Self's zero-knowledge proof-of-humanity technology, which lets users confirm their identity and establish their eligibility without revealing personal data. To claim, users must be 18+ and not residents of sanctioned countries. Google doesn't see users' ID or raw personal data, just a confirmation that users are real humans who are eligible to receive the stablecoin.
Download the Self app and verify your identity using a government-issued biometric passport or national ID, or connect your Indian Aadhaar
Self generates a proof confirming your humanity and screens against the OFAC sanctions list, without transmitting any raw personal data to any third party
Connect a compatible wallet and receive USA₮ directly to your address
The platform will go live in April following the launch of USA₮ on Celo.
