Guided by a commitment to scaling Ethereum for real users throughout the world, and mission to protect user privacy, the Self team was proud to support Etherealize, Ethereum Ecosystem Fund, and Blockchain Builders’ Ethereum NYC last week.
At NextFin Summit, Self co-founder and CEO Eric Nakagawa spoke on the “Verifiability & Compliance” panel with Zircuit co-founder Martin Derka, Nethermind Head of Research Michal Zajac, and moderator StarkWare General Counsel Katherine Kirkpatrick Bos.

Eric highlighted how ZK-powered identity and proof-of-humanity solutions can help organizations work in accordance with their jurisdictions without compromising user privacy.
He also explained how mainstream, enterprise adoption of zero-knowledge technology will largely be driven by the need for stronger solutions that address global regulations enforcing age requirements and more:
“What’s coming is every big tech company that you know is coming into the space through a security angle: through ZK. We’re going to see this show up in the applications, expanding out from developer tools.”
Later in the week, Self sponsored World of Apps, a showcase from the Ethereum Foundation and Nouns DAO at SuperRare’s Offline Gallery NYC. The one-day event brought builders and users together in celebration of Ethereum’s vibrant culture, app layer, and everyday utility.
Eric presented Self, walking attendees through the urgent need for secure, privacy-preserving ZK identity solutions as users’ sensitive information is repeatedly leaked at a massive scale. He also demonstrated how users can seamlessly prove their identity by scanning their biometric passport or ID card, without ever revealing their sensitive information.
