Self and Google Cloud’s USA₮ Mainnet Faucet is distributing the US Dollar-backed stablecoin to verified users, reaching over 45,000 unique claimers since its launch just a few months ago. As a continuation of these efforts, with a commitment to bringing real money to real humans in eligible countries throughout the world, the Faucet will only support NFC-chip-enabled verifications (biometric passports and ID cards) for the immediate future.
After over three months of Aadhaar support, claims from Self’s Indian community have exceeded those from any other single country. To broaden distribution across more countries and encourage testing of Self and Google Cloud’s first-of-its-kind solution, Aadhaar will not be accepted as a form of verification for now.
The model has always been dynamic and will continue to evolve as needed to best serve Self and Google Cloud’s mission sustainably. As more countries catch up, the team plans to resume Faucet support for Indian Aadhaar verification. The amounts and steps required are unchanged at this time. Any updates to eligibility requirements or amounts distributed will be announced on Self Labs’ X account and on the Self blog.
If you haven’t yet claimed, here’s how:
Visit Google Cloud’s USA₮ Mainnet Faucet portal
Connect your Celo wallet (Ledger, Valora, MetaMask, Rabby) to the USA₮ Mainnet Faucet
Verify your identity with Self using your biometric passport or ID card
Self uses zero-knowledge technology to generate a proof that you are eligible (18+, not a resident of an OFAC-sanctioned country) without ever transmitting your raw personal data
Once your Self Pass is verified, your wallet will immediately receive $0.50 in USA₮ at no cost
Send USA₮ to another Celo wallet to receive another payout of $0.20 in USA₮
Hold 5+ USA₮ for at least 10 consecutive days to receive an additional $0.30 in USA₮
Note: USA₮ allocations and eligibility requirements above are current starting October 26, 2026. This is subject to change as a result of the dynamic model.
